Rediscovering mumbai in a walk across time

A tour to understand the unique heritage of the city and its people

It was a Sunday of discovery for the students and teachers who learnt about the heritage of Mumbai through its architecture during a one and a half hour Heritage Walk conducted by Raconteur Walks.

Criss-crossing the bylanes of the city in the area between Kala Ghoda and the UNESCO heritage site of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the walk offered interesting insights into Mumbai through the ages.

There were snapshots of the contributions of various peoples such as the Kolis, the British, the Parsis, and the Dawoodi Bohras, as well as the role played by the farmers, soldiers, and freedom fighters in creating the identity of the city. The experience gave a valuable insight into how myriad communities have co-existed and lived harmoniously in our nation’s City of Dreams, shaping its multicultural but unique identity.
